See You at the Stand Up for Public Education Rally

The year-long Stand Up for Public Education Campaign will culminate with a rally this Saturday, May 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the North lawn of the Oklahoma State Capitol.

Stand Up for Public Education is a statewide movement, sponsored by the Oklahoma Education Association, that encourages all stakeholders to Stand Up and celebrate a free public education. The rally is to encourage Oklahomans to invest more time and energy to the success of our public schools.

The rally will include lots of free activities for kids, including make-it-take-it art projects, face painting, and reading appearances by several Dr. Seuss characters. Fingerprinting and ID cards from Identakid will be free for the first 200 children.

We have fun things for the whole family planned for the day, including free popcorn and snow cones, dynamic words from Oklahoma teachers and parents, a DJ throughout the event, and a "Battle of the Bands” featuring drum lines from around the state that will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place trophies.

When will Oklahomans stand together for our children and our schools? We can't wait any longer — the time is now.

View the Stand Up website, Facebook page or YouTube Channel for more info on the campaign.
