AWARDS

OEA Awards Program
Each Spring, the Oklahoma Education Association honors members and local associations as well as individuals, businesses and organizations outside of education for their dedication to making our public schools the best they can be. In addition, the OEA recognizes professional and high school student journalists for their positive coverage of public education. See a complete listing of OEA Awards and the corresonding online nomination forms here. The Marshall Gregory Awards criteria and nomination form is also available separately.

NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence
The Oklahoma Education Association, the National Education Association and the NEA Foundation for the Improvement of Education (NFIE) all believe that every student deserves a quality education and that teaching is the single most important component of a quality education. It is appropriate, therefore, that the NEA and its foundation should recognize one of our own members for teacher excellence. In an effort “to recognize, reward and promote excellence in teaching and advocacy for the profession,” the NEA and NFIE annually present the NEA Foundation Award for Teaching Excellence to one of its members. By selecting and celebrating a national winner of this award, we honor teaching excellence, public education, and our dedicated members. Award criteria and nomination form.

5 Star Local Program
The OEA 5 Star Local Program recognizes local associations for the services they provide their members and for their activity in the local community with OEA various program service areas of Advocacy, Communications, Legislative and Political Organizing, Organizational Development, and Teaching and Learning. Many locals use the award criteria as a planning tool to strengthen their organization and provide the best local programs possible for their members. See full program outline here.

LOCAL & STUDENT REBATES

Local Association Incentive Rebate
Many local Associations are eligible for rebates, a program that returns dues dollars to the local. Every local that experiences membership growth is eligible, and other factors such as having a full-time release officer, local dues levels, and others add to the rebate amount. Review the Incentive Rebate Policy and then complete the Incentive Rebate Request form and mail it to OEA Headquarters.

Former Student Member Rebate
New certified OEA members who were Student OEA members while in college are eligible for a rebate of both OEA and NEA dues they paid as students. Rebates must be applied for by May 1 of each year and the applications must be sent in during the member’s very first year of education employment. See the form here.
