OEA responds to COVID testing plan progress

The Oklahoma State Department of Health and the Oklahoma State Department of Education announced Aug. 21 they have sent their #oklaed COVID-19 testing plan to the governor. The details of the plan have not been made public yet. In July, the OEA legal team told members that any type of state COVID testing could not be mandatory.

OEA President Alicia Priest responds

“We appreciate Health Commissioner Frye and State Superintendent Hofmeister for designing a free, voluntary program to provide testing for school employees. We look forward to reading the details of the final plan. Educators and support staff are working with perseverance and passion as students return to school now and in the coming months, and safety must be at the forefront for everyone at every level of leadership. ”
