Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt said in a press conference Nov. 16 that he wants all students to return to in-person learning by Jan. 1, 2021.
While his goal is admirable, OEA President Alicia Priest responded that his leadership is needed to make that goal a reality as COVID-19 cases continue to surge in our state.
OEA President Alicia Priest responds
“Educators and support staff are doing innovative, exhaustive, and good work — just like we have been doing since the pandemic started. If the governor wants all students back in person by January, it’s going to take decisive, bold leadership from him and other state leaders. The statewide holding pattern of the past eight months isn’t working.”
