Joshua Frazier takes new early career & equity organizing position

Former Mustang elementary teacher Joshua Frazier has joined the OEA as an early career/equity organizer, a new position created by a grant from the National Education Association.

Frazier’s position is part of the Teaching and Learning Center. His responsibilities include working with early career educators in the western half of the state as well as aspiring educator organizations on college campuses in the association’s Oklahoma City Metro, Southwest and Northwest regions.

In addition to providing professional development for members under the Teaching and Learning umbrella, Frazier will provide equity training internally at OEA internally as well as for local associations and districts.

Frazier was one of the original members of NEON, OEA’s Early Career Educator networking group. In Mustang, he was a founding member and program coordinator for HERD (Helping Educators Realize Dreams), a networking and support group for teachers with five years or less experience in the district.

Prior to joining OEA, he taught second grade for five years and served as robotics team lead coach at Mustang’s Centennial Elementary. He received a bachelor’s in elementary education from Northwestern Oklahoma State University and a master’s in educational administration from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, and completed an administrative internship at Centennial in 2020.

“I’m really excited for the opportunity to work with groups of aspiring educators and early career educators from across the state,” Frazier said of his new role at OEA. “My goal is to find a way to connect these two groups and create an outlet for them to grow together both personally and professionally.”
