Monica Royer has joined the Communications Center of the Oklahoma Education Association.
She comes to OEA after teaching five years at Edmond Santa Fe High School where she taught English III and English IV classes. She also served as the yearbook advisor for 3 years teaching students journalistic writing, graphic design and photography.
Monica has a Bachelor’s in English Education from the University of Central Oklahoma. Born and raised in northwest Oklahoma City, she is a graduate of Piedmont High School.
Outside of the office, Monica is an advocate for sustainability and uses her social media platforms to encourage others to live a more eco-friendly lifestyle.
At OEA, she will be in charge of media relations as well as some of the association’s digital communications and writing for various publications.
“I’m excited to use my experience in the classroom to help and support other teachers and support staff,” Monica said of coming to OEA. “I will miss my students, but I feel passionately about advocating for a better educational system and protecting those within it to give them the future they deserve.”
