Registration is now open for the OAEA Fall Professional Learning Hybrid Conference. The October 23 event will feature both in-person and virtual options this year at Meinder’s School of Business Kerr-McGee Auditorium on the campus of Oklahoma City University.
Attendance is free, but required. Register today.
In-person and online sign-in begins at 8 a.m. The opening, general and closing sessions will have a virtual option while all of the breakout sessions will be virtual. The most popular breakout from each session, based on registrations, will be broadcast for the in-person attendees.
NEA Aspiring Educators Chair Cameo Kendrick will kick things off with a keynote address. The morning general session, from 9-11 a.m., will feature two presentations: “Secondary Traumatic Stress, Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care for Aspiring Educators,” followed by “Cultural Competency for Educators: What, Why, and How.”
Breakout Sessions at 11:15 a.m. will include:
- What Administrators Expect from Teacher Candidates Before, During, and After the Interview Process
- Classroom Inclusion of Students with Exceptionalities/IEPs
- Learning Styles for 2021
Three more breakouts will be offered at 12:15 p.m.:
- Applied Writing Skills for OSAT
- NEA Member Benefits for Aspiring Educators
- Early Career Educator Panel: Classroom Management Challenges during COVID
Local chapters are invited to enter the first-ever OAEA Bulletin Board contest. Create a real or virtual bulletin board around the theme, “OAEA 2021: Staying Charged for Learning.” Then send a photo of the board to Kim Littrell, OAEA coordinator, before midnight, Oct. 22, for a chance to win $200 for the chapter.
