Gov. Stitt’s State of the State message today included little about education, but did mention two obvious tenants of public education. Following is OEA President Alicia Priest’s response to the governor’s speech.
OEA President Alicia Priest Responds
“We appreciate the governor’s words: ‘We have to put our students first. Period.’ Oklahoma public schools do put students first, which is why we also appreciate his recognition that they are ‘the glue that holds our communities together.’ Educators have shown innovation and flexibility from the beginning of this pandemic. Now is the time to support our children with fully funded public schools — the choice for more than 90% of Oklahoma families.”
