Congratulations to Norman’s Jessica Eschbach, who today was named 2021 Oklahoma Teacher of the Year.

An OEA member and an innovative learning coach, Jessica will serve as the state’s public education ambassador for the 2021-22 school year. She will begin her duties as state Teacher of the Year on July 1.

“We are so proud of Jessica and honored that she will be our next State Teacher of the Year,” said Alicia Priest, OEA President. “We know she will be a dynamic spokesperson for public education and our profession.”

As Oklahoma Teacher of the Year, she receives $10,000 in cash and prizes, including the use of a vehicle for a year to tour the state as our next teacher ambassador.

Jessica has taught seven years, all in Norman. She taught social studies and English at Alcott Middle School and was a teacher-librarian at Kennedy Elementary. In her current assignment, based at Norman North High School, she works with teachers to improve instruction and integrate new learning techniques and educational technology in their classes.
