Organizing Conference Extends Early Bird Registration

 

Early Bird Deadline Extended

Early Bird registration for the 2022 Organizing Conference has been extended through Feb. 11. Registration for just $35 before the 12. Afterwards, registration will will increase to $50.

“Better Together: Organizing through Advocacy” is the theme for this year’s conference, which is scheduled for Feb. 25-26 at the Embassy Suites in Northwest Oklahoma City. Those who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 may attend in-person; and a virtual option will be offered for the unvaccinated or those who would feel safer attending the conference online.

National TOY, Author Named Keynote Speakers

Juliana Urtubey, National Teacher of the Year, will open the conference agenda Saturday morning, Feb. 25; and Ted Dintersmith, founder and chairman of WhatSchoolCouldBe.org, will provide the closing keynote later that afternoon.

Urtubey is a National Board Certified teacher and a first-generation, bilingual immigrant in her 11th year as a teacher. She is a co-teacher in pre-kindergarten through fifth grades at Kermit R. Booker Sr. Innovative elementary School in Las Vegas. Her platform as National TOY is “joyful and just education” for all students.

Dintersmith’s films, books, keynotes, and philanthropy focus on the “urgency of reimagining school to keep pace with the tsunami of innovation that is reshaping society.” A former venture capitalist, he was appointed in 2012 by President Obama to represent the U.S. at the United Nations General Assembly and received the prestigious NEA Friend of Education Award in 2018.
