Is your local wanting to improve salaries, benefits, or other terms and conditions of employment through the bargaining process? You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other local leaders who have had significant wins through bargaining.
    • Potential Bargaining Locals – (Pre-Convene)
      • This workshop is designed for certified and support locals that do not currently have bargaining rights. Did you know school board policy is a way to affect change in salaries, benefits, and other terms and conditions of employment? Join this workshop to create an organizing plan to create solidarity among members, administration, school board, and community members together to positively impact education.
    • Local and State Elections – (Regency B)
      • This workshop is designed for certified and support locals that would like to engage members in elections of decision makers at the local and state level. This session will help your local organize to engage members and your community in campaigning and elections of school board members, state legislators, and other elected officials.
    • Membership Recruitment and Engagement – (Regency A)
      • This workshop is designed for certified and support locals that are looking to grow membership and assist members in discovering their place within the association. Would you like to highlight your local’s? KEYNOTE SPEAKERS

Charmaine Champagne is originally from Louisiana (south of New Orleans). She graduated from the University of Louisiana in Lafayette with a Bachelor of Liberal Arts in Education and taught middle school English. Organizing membership and legislative initiatives in Louisiana is what first sparked her passion for Union work. She has worked as a Field Representative-Organizer in three state affiliates — Louisiana, Colorado and Massachusetts, where she has led several successful organizing, bargaining and membership campaigns. She has 22 years of experience in state affiliates. What drives her is changing the lives of our members through helping them to realize their power. She has been an integral part of moving organizations to a rank-and-file member-driven union.

Helenna Chun is an organizer in Denver, CO with NEA on the Year-Round Organizing (YRO) team. In her time with the labor movement she worked with Service Employees International Union (SEIU) organizing state workers in Colorado, Communications Workers of America (CWA) organizing public sector healthcare workers, and Colorado Education Association organizing new units to fight for collective bargaining agreements. She is passionate about working with non-collective bargaining units to fight for real changes in the workplace. In her free time, she likes to hike and play the pipe organ!
